Economic Development Committee 2024

The Economic Development Committee convenes Dublin business leaders who are interested in the economic viability of Dublin and the greater Tri-Valley area.  The committee leads the Chamber's advocacy efforts on local public policy priorities.

SPEAKERS

Paul Helliker, the General Manager of the San Juan Water District will be presenting about the CA Water for All (SB 366) authored by Senator Anna Caballero which is aimed at securing long-term, reliable, and comprehensive water supply for California. Mr. Heliker will discuss the need for improvements in water infrastructure to supply the needs of residential, commercial, and agricultural uses in California. The ask is to join the coalition supporting this bill which currently includes business, agricultural and water agencies all over California.

John Kabateck of Kabateck Strategies and the National Federation of Independent Business will speak on issues that will be on the November ballot. Among the topics will be:

• The Taxpayer Protection & Government Accountability Act, supported by the Cal Chamber, Ca Business Roundtable, NFIB, CA Farm Bureau and the CA Assn of Realtors, would expand the definition of tax and require 2/3's approval for state and local taxes. 
• California State Limitations on Local Rent Control is attempting to allow cities to limit rent on any housing and establish vacancy control. Another anti-housing initiative which hurts rather than helps the current housing shortage in the state.
• Retail Theft Initiative- Would change the existing retail theft policies in the state which has encouraged, rather than discouraged, higher crime rates at our retail locations all over California.

 
All of these are timely issues which affect each business in California. All are welcome to learn from these two experts on the issues to be decided in 2024.
