News Release: 7/10/2024Candidate Filing Period for DSRSD Board of Directors Opens July 15

Candidates who are interested in running for the Dublin San Ramon Services District Board of Directors can file nomination papers beginning Monday, July 15. Three seats on the five-member Board are up for election on the November 5 ballot: Divisions 1, 3, and 5. Directors serve four-year terms.

The filing period runs through August 9, or it will extend to August 14 if the incumbent in a specified division does not file papers. Candidates must file a declaration of candidacy with the county where their division is located. Division 1 is in Contra Costa County, and Divisions 3 and 5 are in Alameda County. DSRSD authorizes and pays the counties to officiate and run its elections.

To be eligible to run for the Board of Directors, a candidate must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, and a registered voter residing within the division’s boundaries. DRSRD Directors are elected in November of even-numbered years. The office is nonpartisan. The District transitioned from at-large to area-based elections in 2019 under the requirements of the California Voting Rights Act. The boundaries of all five divisions were updated in 2021 to reflect new data from the 2020 Census. Citizens can view an interactive map of current division boundaries.

DSRSD will hold a virtual Candidate Briefing at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 5. Prospective candidates will receive an overview of the District, learn about election deadlines, and have the opportunity to ask questions. Interested candidates can learn how to file and obtain more information from the DSRSD Elections webpage and the DSRSD policy regarding Candidate’s Statement Costs.
