The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District Mourns the Passing of Trustee Edralin “Ed” Maduli

It is with great sadness that the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District (CLPCCD) announces the passing of a beloved and longtime board of trustee member. Edralin “Ed” Maduli served on the board since 2016 as a representative for Area 7, which encompasses Livermore, portions of East Dublin, and Southeast San Ramon. During his tenure, he twice served as president of the board. 
 
Trustee Maduli served in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, where he received numerous awards and recognitions and retired as a lieutenant colonel. His career in higher education included serving as the Vice Chancellor of Administrative Services for the West Valley Mission Community College District, Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Administrative Services for the San Luis Obispo County Community College District, Interim Superintendent/President for the San Luis Obispo County Community College District, and Vice President of Business Services for Las Positas College. Recognized for his fiscal acumen and leadership, Trustee Maduli served on numerous statewide committees, associations, and taskforces. Upon his retirement in 2019, he was selected by the Association of Chief Business Officials (ACBO) as the recipient of the Walter Star Robie Award for having demonstrated outstanding achievements and exemplary service as a chief business officer in his respective districts. 
 
“We will be forever grateful to Trustee Maduli for his dedication, expertise, and deep commitment to serving our communities,” stated Tim Sbranti, president of the CLPCCD Board of Trustees. “It has been a privilege for me and for my fellow board members to work alongside Trustee Maduli. He will be greatly missed.” 
 
Ronald Gerhard, chancellor of the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District, stated, “I have had the honor of knowing and working with Trustee Maduli in various capacities for over a decade. I am very saddened by his passing and will forever be appreciative of his impact to our district and colleges. The CLPCCD family offers our thoughts and support to the Maduli family at this time.” 
 
Trustee Maduli was a graduate of the military’s Armed Forces Staff College and the Air Command and Staff College. He received his associate’s degree from Hartnell College in Salinas, a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from California Polytechnic State University, a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Oklahoma, and a master’s degree in business administration from Golden Gate University. A lifelong learner, at the time of his passing he was working toward his doctoral degree in educational leadership from the University of Southern California.
