Las Positas College's (LPC) Theater Arts program is excited to present its summer production of The Wizard of Oz, a dazzling outdoor musical event for all ages. The production will run from July 18–26 at the beautiful Outdoor Amphitheater on the LPC campus.
Directed and choreographed by Vinh G. Nguyen, The Wizard of Oz is a playful and colorful adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s classic novel. This unique stage version includes whimsical characters and imaginative scenes not seen in the beloved MGM film—offering a fresh yet nostalgic experience for audiences.
“This is, to come out with it immediately, the most marvelous show,” wrote Jeremy Kingston of The Times, while Colin Douglas of Chicago Theatre Review called the story “one of the most beloved in children’s literature... with an inspiring lesson about friendship.”
The iconic story follows Dorothy, a Kansas farm girl swept away by a tornado to the magical Land of Oz. Joined by the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion, Dorothy travels the Yellow Brick Road in search of the great Wizard who might help her return home. Along the way, the group encounters jitterbugs, ghosts, witches, and a cast of fantastical Ozians in this joyful celebration of courage, heart, brains, and belonging. “This Oz, brimming with color, seduces and delights,” wrote Collin Kelley of Atlanta In Town.
The cast features over 30 talented student and LPC Actors Conservatory actors, including Ava Fernandez, Cecily Hansson, Claire Willard, Demi Starzak*, Ella Bracken*, Isabella Dukleth, Jackson Baggie, Kiana Casanovas, Kiana Porr*, Kiarra Bautista, Kinsey Ferrera, Lucas Caba*, Mackenzie McDonald*, Marshawn Wesley*, Mason Garner, Mason Neto*, Michael Patin*, Mikayla Cabrera, Natalia Mujica Herrera*, Renn Ma*, Ryan Morris*, Scout Del Real*, Sharon Thompson, Spencer Canton, and Xander Struckmann.

Seating is first come, first served—patrons are encouraged to bring lawn or camp chairs and blankets. Picnics are welcome, and food trucks and desserts will be available nightly.
