DSRSD Now Accepting Applications for the 2026 Citizens Water Academy

Dublin San Ramon Services District (DSRSD) is inviting community members who live or work in DSRSD’s service area to apply for the District’s 2026 Citizens Water Academy, a free program that gives customers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how water, recycled water, and wastewater services work in Dublin and portions of San Ramon.

This year’s Citizens Water Academy will take place on four Thursday evenings in May – May 7, 14, 21, and 28 – in celebration of Water Awareness Month. Sessions will be held at DSRSD facilities and will include live demonstrations, practical insights from knowledgeable staff, and a special tour of DSRSD’s Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. A light dinner will also be provided at every session.

Participants of DSRSD’s Citizens Water Academy can expect to learn:

  • Where their water comes from and how it is treated, tested, and delivered
  • How wastewater is collected, cleaned and returned to the environment
  • How DSRSD plans, builds, and pays for important community projects
  • How DSRSD effectively uses recycled water and protects our environment
For the first time, the Citizens Water Academy is also inviting a limited number of students between the ages of 14 and 17 to participate. Students will get the chance to explore careers in water and wastewater services while they learn about local water issues and discover meaningful ways to contribute to sustainability in their community.

Several Citizens Water Academy graduates have gone on to serve as elected officials on local government bodies, such as the Cities of Dublin and San Ramon as well as the DSRSD Board of Directors.

The application period is open now through March 27 for DSRSD customers (18 or older) and students (age 14-17) who can attend all four sessions. For the student spots, preference will be shown to high school seniors. To learn more or apply online, visit www.dsrsd.com/academy. Paper applications
are also available upon request.
