A Virtual Roundtable with African-American Leaders on Healing Police-Community Relations
SACRAMENTO – Senator Steve Glazer will host a Virtual Town Hall today, June 2, joined by African-American leaders of his Senate district to discuss how we can heal police-community relations.
This event, Senator Glazer’s 20th Virtual Town Hall, will be today, June 2, at 6 p.m.
Guests include: Monica Wilson, Antioch City Councilwoman Lamar Thorpe, Antioch City Councilman Claudette Staton, Brentwood City Councilwoman Merl Craft, Pittsburg City Councilwoman Shagoofa Khan, Community Activist
We are at a moment of crisis in race relations – particularly between police and people of color. Protests in our own communities over the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer show that we must find a way to heal. Senator Glazer and his guests will explore what community leaders can do to improve relations. They will discuss actions to be taken to lower the likelihood of excessive force against people of color. And, how we can lower the temperature so that we can find positive and constructive solutions.
