Dear Colleagues,
As announced last week, I will be assuming the role of Chief Operating Officer for Stanford Health Care, effective January 13, 2025. In this capacity, I will oversee daily operations across the Stanford Health Care enterprise system, including operational responsibility for Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley and Stanford Medicine Partners. This new opportunity presents tremendous potential as we continue our work in advancing health care delivery across the system.
As part of this transition, I am pleased to announce that Mino Sastry has agreed to serve as the Interim CEO at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley (SHC Tri-Valley). Mino has a distinguished history with us, having advanced through various leadership roles at SHC Tri-Valley. He has been instrumental in the development and management of our strategic plan and the execution of many key strategic initiatives. His extensive experience in partnering with our physician colleagues has been critical in aligning our entities and ensuring that we’re working cohesively to meet our objectives. And finally, Mino is a well-respected leader within the Tri-Valley region, having served in many leadership capacities in regional Chambers of Commerce, Community College Foundations, and innovation incubators in the East Bay. Prior to his leadership term at SHC Tri-Valley, Mino served in a variety of operational and leadership roles at Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto from 2011-2018.
As we head into 2025, we find ourselves in a strong position at SHC Tri-Valley. With the new five-year strategic plan recently developed, we are well on our way to achieving the strategic goals we set forth. Mino's leadership will be vital in maintaining this momentum, and I am confident that he is well-positioned to guide us through this transitional phase.
Transition planning between Mino and myself will begin immediately, with Mino assuming core responsibilities right away, supported by my guidance. He will continue in this interim role throughout the course of our national search for a permanent CEO.
We are also pleased to share that we are starting this national search immediately. We have engaged a reputable national search firm to facilitate the process and have formed a search committee made up of individuals from across the Stanford Medicine enterprise, including SHC Tri-Valley, SHC, the School of Medicine, and the SHC Tri-Valley Board of Directors. John Sensiba, Board Chair at SHC Tri-Valley, and Monica Davila, Interim COO, will serve as co-chairs of the search committee, working closely with the search firm and other committee members.
We anticipate that this process will take several months, as we seek a candidate who will help us build upon the strong foundation and trajectory we’ve established.
We’re excited about these transitions and are looking forward to the great things ahead. Thank you all for your dedication and support as we navigate this transition together. Let’s continue to lean in and work collaboratively for the success of our organization.
Best regards,
Rick Shumway, MHA
