The Las Positas College (LPC) Business Club finished in second place and earned 36 awards at the California Future Business Leaders of America State Business Leadership Conference in March.
For the third year in a row, LPC Business Club students secured second place, competing against students from both two- and four-year colleges and universities. A total of 45 LPC students participated, earning awards in individual and team competitions that tested their knowledge and performance in real-world business scenarios.
Some competitions involved timed case studies, where students analyzed an issue, developed a solution, and presented their findings to a panel of judges. To prepare for over 30 events—including Management Case Study, Entrepreneurship Pitch, and Business Ethics—LPC students dedicated significant time to studying and practicing. The conference also featured insightful business speakers and workshops.
“Year after year, our students rise to the challenge, demonstrating exceptional business acumen, teamwork, and professionalism,” said Mary M. Lauffer, Business Professor and Advisor for the Business Club. “Their success at this highly competitive event reflects not only their dedication but also the strength of our business program at LPC.”
The competitions provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their business acumen while gaining valuable skills for future careers. “This year, our members at Las Positas Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) exceeded all expectations. On behalf of our officer team, I’m proud to say that our students dedicated countless hours preparing for these competitions, and it paid off,” said LPC student Hadia Ashfaq. “As Chapter President and State Officer, it’s been incredibly rewarding to work with such driven, talented individuals, and I hope this momentum continues for years to come.”
LPC’s four first-place finishes were secured by Meharpreet Bhatia (Emerging Business Issues and Foundations of Economics) and Christian Shiu (Foundations of Finance). The Marketing, Sales, and Communication Case Competition award-winning team members included Amy Dang, Ranveer Rajoura, Joshua Sandy, and Salehi Yousef.
The LPC Business Club offers workshops, presentations, and social events and is a chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America, the largest business career student organization in the world. Interested students can get involved by filling out an interest form on LPC’s website here.
